It might not look like a perfect solar day, but available daylight is still there.

Even under heavy cloud cover, diffuse daylight can pass through the clouds and reach the solar panels on a Hardwear van, allowing them to continue contributing energy to the van’s 48V battery system.

And this latest van for Coates is doing exactly that.

The important point is that a Hardwear van isn’t relying on one power source alone.

Solar generation, 48V battery storage and onboard generator support all form part of the complete power system.

When daylight is available, the solar panels continue harvesting that energy and feeding the battery system. Stored power then helps support the van throughout the day, while the onboard generator is there when additional power is required.

The amount of solar generation will naturally change with the conditions, but cloud cover doesn’t mean the contribution disappears.

It’s about making use of the energy available and having the complete system there to manage changing conditions on site.
