What’s Under the Van Matters

When people look at a Hardwear van, the focus is usually on the workspace inside - desks, solar systems, layouts and equipment.

But one of the most important engineering decisions we make sits underneath the van.

Every Hardwear van runs on the AL-KO Enduro X independent suspension chassis, and that choice is very deliberate.

Independent Suspension That Actually Works

Unlike traditional beam axles, the Enduro X system uses true independent suspension, allowing each wheel to move separately. That improves stability when towing over uneven ground and reduces the shock loads transferred into the van structure.

For a mobile site office or accommodation unit that’s moving regularly between projects, that matters.

The system also uses dual inline shock absorbers, which help control rebound and maintain consistent tyre contact with the road surface. The result is smoother towing and better handling, particularly on access roads and unsealed surfaces.

Designed to Handle Real Loads

Mobile infrastructure vans carry significant weight - power systems, water tanks, cabinetry, equipment and structural framing.

The Enduro X system is designed with automotive-inspired construction, including forged stub axles and a chassis configuration engineered to handle heavy loads without compromising ride quality.

The suspension geometry also allows tow and camber adjustment, helping maintain alignment and towing stability over the life of the van.

Lower Unsprung Weight

Another advantage of the Enduro X design is reduced unsprung weight, which improves suspension response and towing performance.

In practical terms, that means less vibration being transferred through the chassis and into the van structure - protecting the equipment and workspace inside.

Built for Tough Environments

Hardwear vans operate across construction sites, infrastructure projects and remote locations where access roads aren’t always perfect.

The Enduro X suspension is finished with an automotive-grade eCoat coating designed to resist corrosion, chips and wear over time.

It’s the kind of durability you want when equipment is expected to perform day after day in demanding environments.

Engineering the Foundation First

At Hardwear we spend a lot of time designing the interior of our vans so they’re ready to work the moment they arrive on site.

But none of that matters if the foundation isn’t right.

That’s why every Hardwear van starts with the same approach - build on a chassis that’s engineered to perform.

The AL-KO Enduro X system gives us that foundation.
